Growing Tansy Plants

30 Days Wild, day 10: Today I've been pricking out tansy seedlings, transferring them from seed trays to plug plant trays. Normally it's a job that is finished by this time of year, but this year my first seed sowing produced far fewer seedlings than I'd expected.

The first crop this year went to Askham Bryan College

This is a second crop, which I hope will be ready to plant out by September. The plants will help conserve the endangered tansy beetle, which lives along the banks of the River Ouse, around York.
